What Local Homes and Businesses Need from Their Plumber

Local plumber arriving at a Ingle Farm home

Ingle Farm sits in northern Adelaide inside the City of Salisbury, built out as a South Australian Housing Trust estate after the Trust bought 730 acres from the Rowe family in 1959. The first Trust homes went up in 1965 and around 2,500 houses were completed by 1975, giving the area a consistent stock of single-storey detached homes on standard blocks, with cream and red brick the dominant facade materials. Most homes still carry their original 1960s and 1970s footprint, with renovations and a small amount of infill added in later decades.

That build history shows up in four issues we see across the area week after week. The first is original earthenware clay drainage. The 1960s and early 1970s sewer and stormwater lines were laid in clay before PVC became standard, so joints in these older drains now flex and crack as the surrounding ground moves. The second is tree-root intrusion into those aged lines. Sixty years of established street trees and mature backyard plantings across the grid streets off Walkleys Road and Beovich Road give roots easy access to the clay drainage joints below.

The third issue is ageing hot water storage units. A large share of homes here were fitted out during the 1965 to mid-1970s Trust build-out and are now running second- or third-generation storage units, with many original-era systems well past their typical service life. The fourth is galvanised water lines. First-generation Housing Trust homes were plumbed with galvanised steel that is now well past its service life, with rust-coloured water and reduced flow becoming common on un-renovated properties around Montague Road, Belalie Road and Rothwell Avenue.

Our team has worked across the City of Salisbury for years and knows the streets, the housing stock and the local patterns.

Emergency response

When emergency plumbing strikes, we respond fast.

When something bursts, leaks or backs up at home, every single minute matters. These are the emergency calls our 24/7 line takes most often from across the area and the surrounding northern suburbs, day or night:

Suspected gas leaks (immediate safety risk)
Overflowing toilets a plunger will not fix
